WHAT MENTORSHIP IS

Mentorship is for people who want Zen-rooted guidance without stepping into formal apprenticeship. This might be where you begin if you're discerning, or where you remain if formal apprenticeship isn't what you're looking for.

Being mentored means periodic meetings with me — conversations grounded in practice, and in what's actually happening in your life.

The mentorship relationship has its own shape and value, and it's fundamentally different from apprenticeship.

THE RATE

$150 + GST per 45-minute meeting, booked according to your needs. There's no monthly commitment and no minimum. The only limitation is my availability.

WHAT IT DOESN'T INCLUDE

It doesn't include the Shōken ceremony, access to dokusan at intensives, or eligibility for the RAPP training path. Those are aspects of formal apprenticeship.

CONSIDERING APPRENTICESHIP?

If over time you find yourself wanting to step into formal apprenticeship — the ceremony, the full training path — that door is open, provided there's an apprentice vacancy.

At least three Zen Mentorship meetings are required before you'll be considered for apprenticeship. These give enough contact for me to see genuine engagement before the formal relationship begins. If the fit is mutual, Shōken follows.

Relationship is built through contact over time. Beginning as a mentee is a solid start.
